Domains for tokens
1. Why domains are needed
- Security and control: only assigned domains can use accessibility tools.
- Compliance: Some countries are required to assign appropriate domains in the accessibility declaration.
- Personalization: Allows you to customize accessibility for different versions of your site.
2. Domain requirements
The domain should be specified in full (e.g., www.example.com
or example.com
). It’s recommended to assign both versions if the website works with and without the www
prefix. Additionally, for international versions of the website (e.g., example.pl
, example.de
), each domain should have a separate token.
3. More than one domain
Entering more than one domain is necessary when:
- The site works with and without
www
. - There are different national versions of the site (e.g.,
example.pl
,example.de
).
4. When to assign separate domains
Separate domains should be assigned in the case:
- Different language/regional versions: Each country has a separate token with the corresponding domain.
- Changes to the accessibility declaration: Each domain should have a separate token to make the accessibility declaration compliant with local requirements.
5 Summary
Domains assigned to tokens allow sites to manage accessibility in a secure and compliant manner. The ability to assign multiple domains to a single token provides the flexibility to monitor availability on different versions of a site.
